I have been telling myself for the last few years, that my Promaster 7500DX was doing the job just fine. Well last week I bit the bullet and bought the 580.
What a difference! This thing pumps out a lot more light, and the quality is just so much better. If you have been debating on getting the 580, just do it! You will not regret it.

I'm Mr. negative,

I bought 2 new 580EXII's. One is virtually new with almost no use (spare) and my other 580EXII underexposed over 50% of my photos (yes freshly recharged batteries/one shot photos). I do hear certain problems (overexposure/stuck in ttl) with this flash but nothings perfect in this world. Canon techs had no idea how to fix my underexposure problem and said my flash worked perfectly. As a hobbyist I bought a 430EXII for heavy use in home and will use my 580exII's for more demanding tasks.

Absolutely love the quick dial which works perfectly. Alot of power on tap!!
