^I really liked it. Didn't use it much because of the focal length, but it was very sharp and a great little lens. Bokeh wasn't as nice as the 35L but in many other respects it gave it a run for its money. That link isn't working for me :(.

thanks, im down to the 35mm L or the 50mmL or the 28 1.8 and with the 1dmk2 i think im gonna go for the 28 1.8 and save some money for a change..... the link was just some comarisons on the 35 and 28 - not that big of a difference....

Anybody know whether the current 35L works well on high density FF sensor such as 5D II or the future 1Ds IV? 5D II is on my list this year so is 35L. I can wait for the new 35 L II. But once I buy it, I want to keep it long (10 years?). So except the new coating, weather seal, high price..., will the II works better than I on high density FF sensor or other new technology such as microadjustment?

thanks,

JJ

The 35L will work wonderfully on the 5D II.

I can confirm the 35 L works wonderfully on the 5d2. I might end up keeping it :).

I don't know if the 35L II has been confirmed? I wouldn't worry- the original is thought to be one of Canon's best lenses.

I think the 35L is perfect on something like the 1D Mark IIn with its 1.3x crop. Some prefer a little looser composition, and the 24L is better suited. Of course, this is all assuming you're a fan of the "standard 50mm lens" argument. If you like wider or longer, neither the 24L or 35L are likely your cup of tea.

Next!

24L is too wide for me and I can not control it well. I used to shot film with 50mm (only one len) when I was in university 25 years ago. 35mm on 5D (my current body) is far wider than 50mm which I think I can control.

BTW my current setup are 5D/350D/EF24-70/EF70-200/85L II/135L

thanks all for your help

JJ

I was OK with that. 35mm on 5D (my current body) is far wider than 50mm which I think I can control. I also try set my EF 24-70 to either 24mm/35mm/50mm on my 5D. 35mm seems the one for me.

I did some walkaround photography with just the 5D and 50 1.4, I found it too restrictive - would have liked a bit wider. But then that's my personal preference.
