Here are some snowflakes from Sunday.

ETA: Since Mark resurrected this from the dead the ones from 2009 are here:http://rfpstudio.smugmug.com …922_CXxdK#731924763_rnyMm (external link)

I realize they are nowhere near the caliber that some of you guys are at, but they're pretty.

Those are really beautiful! Id love to try that. What technique did you use? Are the lenses listed at the bottom of the pictures the ones you used respectively?

I used my Xti with the 100mm macro. My technique....well....I had just come in from being outside with my 2 year old so I was dressed warm for the weather. I threw a black pillowcase on the deck and started shooting. I shot raw...ISO 100, f2.8, 1/125. It was kind of fun. I have some more raws to go through so I'm hoping to find some more treasures.

I'm thinking of getting the 100mm Macro, I'll have to give it a try. I certainly like those shots.

Very nice. I'm assuming those are crops of some sort? I bet if you chop off your shutter speed to about 1/60 and raise your aperature to around F5.6 you'd get some more in focus flakes. Being crouched over like that allows you to use a slower shutter speed if you are sturdy enough. You're practically a human tripod. These are very good quality for just the 100mm macro. My setup was the 100mm macro, kenko tubes and a reversed 50mm. The setup is a little more complex than yours obviously, but man did you really pull off some good shots with just the macro lense. I am impressed.

THANK YOU! Yeah, some of these are pretty heavily cropped. I'm sure your suggestions would have helped immensely...stupid being in a hurry. Oh, well, it was fun, a learning experience, and I'm sure that it'll snow again....like every week until March. I don't know how sturdy a tripod I would be....I'm a wuss and the camera/lens combo got heavy really quickly.
