So my girlfriend entered her first horse show down here in FL. I used this opportunity to snag a few pics as it had been a while since I had done some shooting.

I'm looking for overall C&C, composition, colors, PP, etc.

nice color in the shots. I dont like the tilt on #1 (just my opinion tho). next time try panning to get a sense of motion.....

It's nice to know that my ineptitude in the darkroom transfers over to the digital world...

Agree. Nice shots, but if the legs, or the whole picture, had a bit of blur for movement #1 would be excellent.

All great shots. However if I were to suggest something it would be to get images of her on the horse without the thick, dark green trees in the background. Mainly speaking to #1 & #2 shots. Possibly using a large f-stop of f1.8 or f2.8 to completly blur out the background may have worked too. This would serve to highlight the subject more.

#2 - having her look slightly to her right a bit more would allow you see her face and be more recognizable.

Very good shots!

Thanks guys, I really didn't have much say in her posing as she was mostly in the middle of competition when I was taking the shots. However the advice about panning is great and I'll be sure to try that next time. The tilting was just something I tried to mix up my shots with. I had a ton of the same style picture and was hoping to capture something unique.

As for the separation from the trees, I could only shoot from 1 or 2 sides of the arena so that really limited my background. Next time I might try shooting lower to the ground and getting more of the sky in there instead.

Here are a few more that I really liked (again, all feedback is welcomed, you won't hurt my feelings :) )

I love the last one! Would love it even more if the face of the horse was in focus. Or it could just be my eyes
