I really don't care for the processing in the first, and I don't think b&w does it justice, but the high key look in the second is great. The right cheek is too blown out, but not so much that it completely ruins the picture.

image #1 seems a little flat, you need to bump it up a bit

great composition and good shots tho


It's nice to know that my ineptitude in the darkroom transfers over to the digital world...

Thanks guys... I may sound stupid here but I am totally new and what do you mean by 'Bump it up a bit'? Lol, you may need to sreak to me like a pre-schooler with this, and I won't take offence.... very new!

well, I am a Photoshop novice, but you can play with your color curves to bring out the whites and blacks and add more contrast and pop to your grays. I bet if you allowed image editing on your profile a PS pro (there are a lot around here :) ) would show you an example of it. I cant explain how to do it..I just kinda do it LOL, but here is a link
