1.) i think needs a bit more DoF, her hair and eyes are in focus, while her smile, which I feel would add more feelings to the image isn't.

2.) the harsh lighting on the side is a bit distracting. May you could use some fill flash?

Blown highlights in hair are usually acceptable, but once it gets into the face, it's harsh and distracting. The crop is also too tight for my taste. I would have used portrait orientation instead of landscape.

The deal breaker for me on the toddler is the texas longhorns logo being implanted into her nose because of the smile. I'm sure the family will love it, because that's who she is, but I would clone it out if I had no attachment to the child.

Thanks so much hey, I'm only just starting so this is all very helpful... I have to say though that the wrinkle in her nose, well, even if I didn't know her, just couldn't possibly be removed could it? Isn't that the whole point of portrait photography? I guess it means different things to all of us but to me, this is who she is, whether I think it's cute or not - the wrinkle is what makes her so unique..... But then again, you are talking to someone who doesn't even have photoshop lol... like I said, just starting and it's all very foreign at the mo!

Don't even think of removing the wrinkle. After a couple or three more years, she won't have that toddler's grin, and the wrinkle will be seen no more. Right now it is a part of her and It is darn cute, anyway!

agree... her toddler's grin and the wrinkle will be seen no more....

BTW, the eyes of both photos are nicely captured... any tips for this? thanks
