Hi guys,

I figure this would be the section to come to about this stuff. I'm considering building a suction mount for my camera, but wanted to get some advice about what brand, and what you guys use here, and how strong the suction force is, especially if the surface isn't perfectly flat.

Q's

-brand/source recommendation
-type (hand action suction preferred as I don't want to have to bring a vacuum pump to the beach)
-other thoughts

I'm looking to fabricate some sort of contraption that will suction mount to the front of a surfboard and mount to my water housing. Any advice on on where to start on this project, or if it's even feasible is much appreciated!

peace,
Ray

All the brands of vacuum cups that I've seen recommend a dry surface. None are designed or intended to work wet. I think you'll just have to try stuff and see what happens.

I'd bet that they would stick even better wet? I think I'd have a safety chain to the board, though. Unless you like diving for cameras? ;)

And ya, I'd definitely fashion some sort of safety system.
