Sorry...it's not a Canon

...But, don't worry....it's not a Nikon either :p

I got a Mamiya 645E :D

Below are a few photos I took of my 645E, with my 30D using the 50mm Compact Macro:

In case you're scratching your head wondering where the LCD is...it's called film, lol.

I picked up some rolls of Fuji neopan 400 and Provia 100F. Now I just need to pick up a scanner. I'm thinking of getting an EPSON V700. I know this is not a film forum, but if anyone has any experience with the V700, or any other recommendations, that would be appreciated.

Thanks.

My setup was 3 glossy white poster boards and a fluorescent strip light in front. This allowed me to shot at iso 320 @ f/5 around 1/100-1/125 sec.

When shooting with fluorescent lights you should shot @ 1/60 sec (in the US) due to the flickering light. However, I seemed to be able to get away with a faster shutter speed without any problems. But, if you use fluorescent light when shooting people you do not want to shoot faster than 1/60 (or you'll get strange skin tones)...which can be a pain.;)

I shot in RAW and edited in ACR, to get that cool blue feel.

then I sharpened in CS3, combined images, and framed...and did some minor cloning to get rid of the few dust spots.

Hopefully it warms up soon here, I can't wait to use the new camera.

Very nice camera! Are there digital back available? I am hanging on to my medium format camera in the hope that a sensibly priced one will turn up one day. Unfortunately I haven't had a roll of film in it for several years!

No, it uses 120 or 220 inserts. However, my budget was not very big, and I found the the pros of the 645E greater than its cons, e.g. the lack of a back.

As for digital backs, I couldn't say. Personally, I want to shot film. There are pros and cons to both digital and film...I wouldn't say one is necessarily superior than another, but shooting film is a totally different experience than digital.

You could always get a Nikon Coolscan 9000, and do a hybrid of film to digital.

MF cameras have become quite affordable now. I bought my camera from keh.com in EX+ condition for around $300...sure beats a $300 point and shoot ;)
