Hello all I took this photo of a small waterfall of a creek. I like the motion in the waves but the photo just does not have the good pop. What could I do to to help this picture?

This is the first time posting a photo, so forgive me if it turns out bad.

Not sure how to post the pic without bad resolution, otherwise it exceeds size.

this photo i find confusing. that's ice on the branch in the foreground, right? Aside from it being blown out, it really caught my eye being that the rest of the waterfall is showing motion. just my 2 cents.

Try getting in to get a closer shot of the falls, eliminate the background that doens't add to the photo. You could also try increasing the saturation to make the colors pop more, or try photographing it as the sun comes up or goes down and get the golden cast onto the rocks and water.

That branch ruins it for me.
also it seems crooked...and more contrast would be nice...the colors just blend to much.
Could get some potential good shots in that area though.

I think for me it's the angle that hurts the overall image. Waterfalls are usually best viewed from the bottom rather than the top.

I agree with you, unfortunately I had to shoot this from a bridge. There was no way to get to the place below, it was all water.

The branch is in the way of the waterfall. Do you want us to focus on the branch or the waterfall, because like they are they bought fight for attention.

When there is a good bit of stuff around a waterfall we have had the best luck by really deciding what we want the subject to be. Most the time we will zero in tight on the waterfall itself. It does look like you have used a slow shutter speed that is giving you a nice blur to the water and not photographing in bright sun is very helpful to keep the contrast low. Nice start.

the juxtaposition of a mysterious lake and the soft water does not work for me. find your true purpose for the picture and shoot to evoke that feeling.

i love the complexities of the environment. keep it up!

I agree with the others about the branch camera left; but the water itself is not very appealing - muddy looking stuff. You might try a different time of day and see if you get better light. I'd keep working that site a while.
