White House photgraphers use whatever equipment will produce the best pictures, as the photos become historic documents. My wife was in the White House for four years and the photo sessions are very particular affairs. Jay

I don't think it necessarily was meant to be taken that way. I'm curious too, not because I think his gear is too expensive of anything like that. I just wonder what you get paid for being the official white house photog. --Matt--

Ha! Too funny! Does that mean I voted nikon in the election? Had no idea the choice was so serious. Thought I was just voting for some guy to be president. / brad / 'dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships' - ansel adams

My wife was in the White House for four years and the photo sessions are very particular affairs. Frankly, as a 5D2 owner, I'm very excited by the news. It was more curiousity than cynicism. I know enough about politics to know that alot of people are able to get paid alot of money for not too difficult jobs (not to say the picture is bad). -Sutton

In certain government positions there is often low pay to what is perceived as less contributory positions which photography can be lumped into at times. Often the status of the subject is used to justify the a lower salary or payment. Not to say that is the case here but it can be. Needless to say, it sounds like a great gig that I would love to have. Paul

I know what I make, and I am sure he is in the 60-100k range. The experience and everything else that goes along with that job would be something to cherish. I love my job - but to be able to have that D.C experience would be awesome. 5D4 | 50 1.4 | 85L II | 24-70L II | 70-200 2.8L IS II
