Nic, I will personally wear it non-stop for 10 days. I'm also a risk taker with food, so chances are I will have a fun session of explosive diarrhea sometime within that period. That means when you unwrap your brand new 1D, you will be able to enjoy both the camera and the fresh aroma of my intestinal fluids.. all at once!

WINRAR.

ROFL. What a pleasant image. Thanks Col.

Really? How interesting. I think I'll stick with my much cheaper 1D III.

I honestly can't think of much they can update over the Mark III. 12fps? VGA LCD?

If I had the money, I'd stretch to a 1D III straight away - and have lots of fun playing with it in bed.

Yeah, about that. Anyone know where I can get my mirror box cleaned. Looks to be some "residue" in there.

LOL!

Yeah, my diarrhea globs are rather corrosive. Infact, I've got a pending contract with the United States Armed Forces - they want to use it against the Taliban.

Their current bunker busters are no match for the nasties my bumhole ejects out.

Haha, I just tried it and it was quite odd. The displays in the VF were all upside down.

Yes, I don't get that either, why would you even do that :p
Very weird..... :p

Umm, well, due to my lack of geographical knowledge of Victoria I had no idea what you were talking about. Prom to me meant High School ball/dance...

I didn't have a clue basically.

lol, I saw that and figured it had something to do with paintball

Haha - sorry about that. My name's Joe - and I just updated my profile (live in Canberra).

Hi Joe!

Fairly sure you mean 70-200mm ;)

You must have missed the announcement... :p

1D mark III FTW!!!!

At the basketball tournament im at, there is the official photographer, so i got chatting to him (he knows nothing about canon though:rolleyes:) so anyway we got chatting and i started asking him about his gear (mkIII and 7-20 2.8 IS) so instead of answering, he reaches down brings it out of his bag and hands it to me.

It is the most comfortable camera i have ever held. it actually sounded like a real camera, and while the button layout was confusing at first, after litteraly two minutes of use, it was so easy.

Now i'm completely jealous of everyone who has it, and now i really want one! (never going to happen i know!)

thats my story for now, very nice guy and very helpfull!

Michael wrote in post #7342837 (external link)
Yeah Nic, join us!

Best camera ever (yet)! Come on nic!!! :p

Boy, I'm pretty excited these few days. 1D IV announcement expected any day now.

FF, 16MP, Gapless microlenses would be win! But IMO the mk 4 will be around later this year

In other news, i was lighting op at a show, and the lighting desk rooted itself in the weirdest way possible....
I look at the lights, and realise that one of the FoH pairs is out, 'damn the fuse must have gone' then two more go out, and the one that was out comes back... something is wrong with this, the FoH sort of worked, then didn't, the backlight worked for the most part (just because we weren't trying to change it) really really weird..., gave up on it and unplugged the back dimmer, and ran the front one in test mode until intermission, then we had to reset the whole thing to bring it back to normality....
Seems it changed to wide mode, and did something very very weird with the last 24 channels (which weren't in use, but still responded, just in weird weird ways...)

Oh, and my smugmug strap arrived after about 9 months

I thought you were a techie.....
(rereading it, it doesn't seem to make much sense unless you know the rig we were using anyways :))

We had 8 PAR-64s in the FoH(=front of house), sort of cross lighting the stage, they were paired so that you had four channels on the desk which each controlled two lights...
We had 2 pairs of par 64s as the backlight, which were cross lighting from behind, and some 16 par 16s (birdies) footlighting the stage from all around except from directly behind... These were on a seperate dimmer backstage for the backlights and birdies... This was connected to the FoH dimmer which was controlling the FoH wash and house lights, the chanells got all mixed up or something crazy and when I brought up say the FoH sub for all the FoH pairs to come up it killed 3 of them and brought up half the birdies... Really really really weird....

By unplugging the back dimmer we froze it in a state where the backlight and birdies were at 80% and 100% respectivley, and the test mode on the dimmer allowed us to bring up FoH lights and dim, just with difficulty :)

7-20 has been determined as the optimum size for capturing EVERYTHING at basketball when on a 1.3x sensor.

Surely a Southern Accent around these parts is more like "Hey youse talkin to me?" :P

Like the Greek guy at my favourite souvlaki place: "How are youse tonight?" Nice guy, starts getting them ready when he sees us park on the other side of Bridge Rd in Richmond :-)

They break, you know! (Based on one doing so :-)

Lighting and sound desks are weird things...
