btw - MPEX have gotten back to me and said they can try to accommodate us if we are making a large order. I'm thinking if we can get enough interest to even get a medium sized box shipped via sea, it will be great for us.

So... any interest? :) I'm down for at least two Manfrotto Nano lightstands, a few umbrellas and the like...

edit: they won't send via sea... but their shipping price is still better than B&H!

2of these please http://www.mpex.com/browse.cfm/4,2824.html (external link)

So Al...how did your wife go with the fire fighting? <<SNIP>>:)

I don't know yet. She should be into the first few hours of work now.
Hoping to hear back around lunch but judging how hard they all work I probably won't hear from her until after midnight when she gets back.
She's with a good crew.

Andrew have you checked eBay for Manfrotto QR plates? I bought my second one from there, and the prices are fairly reasonable too.

What is the weather like in Newcastle/Lake Macquarie region at the moment? I'll be down there for the weekend, not sure if I should pack a jumper.

I'm sure there's boat photogs out there just like there are train photogs. That's one I never really understood...

It's kind of like architectural photography, except they move.

With the miniatures... it is more about the appreciation of the work and skill that the builders put in to their models. The good thing about them is that if you can keep the locos in great condition then they don't lose their value.

Let's see what the Mk IV has first. I can't imagine it getting much better.

I can. The 5DmkII definitely surpassed my expectations.

Nope. Got a mkIII for less than the cheapest 5DmkII around. No comparison.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Warren, Ed, Phil, Collin, fungry (forgot your name, sorry) - are any of you guys going to be in Hong Kong in March?

I'm thinking of going for a trip somewhere - Thailand, Vietnam, Mongolia or inner China would be great! - we'll make it a POTN photo excursion!
