Blackshadow (don't know your name, sorry), at the gig yesterday there was one other photographer. He was using a 5D2 swapping between a 17-40 f/4 and a 70-200 f/4, I'm not sure what ISO he was shooting at but the slower glass definitely didn't hold him back! That 5D2 is amazing.

I should have my shots up on flickr tomorrow, I'll send you the link if you're interested.

It was me :) My 450D morphed into a 5D2.
What ISO were you generally at moose?

Yeah, his name is Corey Sleap. His flickr username is 'corex', I don't think he's got any from yesterday up yet either but he's got some previous shots on there.

1600. I left it there. The bands were all hardcore so the lights were inconsistent and I used f/2.8 the whole time. I was lusting the 5D2 so bad :D

Edit: My shutter speed didn't top 1/125 unless the meter got confused by a light. It was mostly 1/80, I think.

I'm happy to organise the Honl group buy, I did it last time. I'll see if there's enough interest :)

image-Melbourne is selling a very cheap ringflash - $120.

I've got no idea if it's any good, just saw the new link.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

I own a Rayflash which has same basic design. Unless somehow the cheap copy has worked out how to not have the external metering sensor and the AF-assist beam emitter of the flash unit pointing straight into a lump of black plastic it will be just as useless.

I thought I was only going in for the travel expo. After Maggie was shot with Jules Lund I was told that Catriona Rowntree was there yesterday and on top of her assets she's incredibly petite.

That's crap luck. ;)

She used to live up the road from me. Her parents are still in the place, and her sister is a looker too. ;)

I'd be up for something, in it for the swatch book though.

Clipsal 500 in Adeliade. Here a few favourites from my first review of the 300 and something pics I took.

On the track:
Ready, ready.......

Ground level

Battle scarred

In the air:

With a Canon 1D at 8.5 frames per second and the 150-500 stabilised lens its like shooting fishing in a barrel.
Although I try to avoid "spray and pray" sometimes thats the best solution. :D

All pics were handheld as I didnt take the monopod.

Grid girls, etc to follow ;)
