Cheers mate.

Agreed guys, but you have to remember, scammers are getting smarter too. ;)

I've been bitten once, NEVER again.:cool::cool:

We'll wait and see if I get a phone call tomorrow as a first step towards authenticity. If they call, I'll be booking some flights to Sydney ASAP.:D

Well this thread builds up very fast... Last time i checked it was 50 pages ago and that was friday:eek:

If you still need me to pick it up or check it out i can no worries, just let me know (i sent you a PM just incase).

Also a $20 = Cherry and i can't remember the rest...

Anyhow, take care!

Hey there peeps,

Not up to reading 50 odd pages of stuff.

Just thought I'd update those who were aware of my "purchase" of the 1ds III on eBay for $3800.

What do you know, it turned out to be a scam. ;)

I was kindly asked to deposit money into a bank in Hungary of all places.

I had already done some ground work before the request payment email was made though. I searched the sellers name in the white pages, and found a match, and in the right suburb too. So, I thought I'd make a call and suss them out. Turns out the lady on the other end is about 84 and can't speak english very well. So it seems scammers are scouring the white pages and getting details from there and setting up eBay accounts based on those details.

Anyway, I gave the ebay scammers a few choice words in an email before their account was shut down.

Bugger!

Did the mobile number answer or go to voice mail? (from memory there was a mobile contact in the ad) If it did I'd be reporting them to the fraud squad.

@ AndrewOz - some nice shots there from the Clipsal

Daytime television is weird - there was a program on breast enlargement followed immediately after by Larry the Lawnmower.
