Wow... Interesting story... It seemed alright but hhmmm brand new and only joined that day and for $6K cheaper.. if only it was real!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I did expect it all along, but I was holding out hope that somehow it would be legit.

Well scouted Brenno!

Cheers Philthy.

Hehe, bugger eh Matt... You gonna head up with the baseball bat to beat that old lady up? :p :)

Hahaha... No, I won't be Mike.

It's quite funny trying to talk ebay with someone in a generation that doesn't use the internet, and doesn't speak english much. She was polite enough to give me her daughters number who did speak english, and knew what ebay was. She cracked up when I told her her mother owes me a 1ds III for a bargain basement price.

That's a pain in the arse Matt.
I'll buy you a beer for thinking positively at the next POTN meet you attend. ;)

fungry wrote in post #7577318 (external link)
Matt, that search paid off then.:)
Pity it wasn't legit though...

Always good to do your research Ed, and I'm a little more cautious than the average punter I guess, having been stung before. Like I said in one of my earlier posts, the scammers are getting smarter, so we have to try to stay one step ahead.

Bugger!

Did the mobile number answer or go to voice mail? (from memory there was a mobile contact in the ad) If it did I'd be reporting them to the fraud squad.

No number in the ad Richard, otherwise I would have called it, and then reported it.

I bought an EOS 3 35mm today on fleabay. Got it at a reasonable price so I am looking forward to getting back into some B&W film photography once it gets here.

A guy from Melbourne contacted me through POTN after the auction had finished and offered one for sale which I would have taken if I hadn't got lucky on the ebay one. The one I bought is in the US.

This is what he had to say.

i am 'possibly considering' selling my EOS3, i am very hesitant to sell it.
Its in near perfect/immaculate condition. I'd be chasing $350 and i'll throw in 2 rolls of Velvia 100 I'm in Melb by the way, let me know, so that i can ponder parting with it further.

Noice, so you did end up going with one from that place i linked to?

By the time I'd researched grips and umm'd and ahh'd they'd sold out, so I got one from LinkDelight.

brenno wrote in post #7576977 (external link)
What do you know, it turned out to be a scam. ;)

Bugger - well researched though, and good to see you weren't stung a second time.

The answer, when I get home tonight!

I'd go shooting - much as I love karts - but I'm weird...

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Unlucky on the 1Ds brenno, but it was worth a try like you mentioned before. Glad you at least found them out.

It's Richard (which you could find out easily by accessing any of the links in my sig)

Haha I definitely had the idea but I was on my phone at the time and unfortunately, no tabbed browsing and it's a PITA to go back and forward with it. Sorry about that though, I know now ;)

Wedding fo' sho' mate.

You can kart anytime, and if you want experience in the field with a wedding tog, this is an invaluable opportunity. Of course, the decision is up to you though. ;)

Heh, haven't been on the forums since last Thursday.. I'll be buggered if i read everything (there is sooo much) :p Any major things happen?

As for my weekend, it was my last bivouac with cadets before I have to leave (when I turn 20). Myself and 100 other cadets got the train from Strathfield to Douglass Park, before spending all weekend out in the bush doing field exercises. I was a section commander, responsible for the welfare and mentoring of 10 other cadets (whose average age must have been around 14  ). In a few words, it was totally awesome. Better than spending the weekend doing uni work. ;)

Back to reality today, I headed off to the Apple Store in the city for my appointment with th Genius Bar. It wasn't actually a graphics card issue with my laptop. The connector between the LCD and the rest of the laptop is messed up.

At first the guy said the repairs, which involved replacing the ENTIRE screen, would cost me a nice little sum of.. $1063. F*@k.  But, since it was only a month out of warranty he worked his magic and said it could be done for free. :D:D The part should arrive in a few days, and at that point I'll take my laptop in to get fixed. It should be back and fully working by next monday. In the mean time, I can get the thing to work by wiggling the display until I find a sweet spot. Lol..
