So Alice that RRS Plate is for non-gripped 5D's only? Otherwise I'd buy it.

Hayley, for the extra $5, get a quad core.

I'd not agree with this as even in CS4, not everything is optimised for more than 1-2 cores. If you have extra budget, go for the 'middle' Q CPU, which balances clock speed with # cores and price much better than the cheap one, which loses out in value to the E8400.

I want to get a mini p180, thermalright heatsinks and better fans so I can use a fan controller..

Yep the Thermalright heatsinks are top stuff. IMO no need for fan controllers - just get the Noctua fans and run them on full as they are just about silent anyway.

That's right, non-gripped.

"We take a break from your regular programming to bring an update on Andrew's Apple Saga"

So, I decided not to call the Apple store today - might as well not bug them about my laptop.. it will be ready when it's ready. When I got home, I thought that I might as well log into the online repair status service and see how my machine is going.

Turns out it was fixed yesterday. So much for "I promise that we will call as soon as it is ready". So much for me being able to pick it up this arvo after uni. And who cares about the work that I need to use it for.

Grr.. :mad::mad::rolleyes:

Don't be ungrateful. It was a freebie after all ;)

And from the other side, I worked in the repair industry with jewellery, as much as you need to live up to your promises that you make to customers, sometimes you're either too flat out or if you're not at work that day and someone overlooks it, it wont get done.

Meanwhile... back at the PC ranch... :lol:

Quad-cores will allow much better multitasking, with single or dual-core processors the whole system slows down when I export files in Lightroom, whereas on my quad-core it's noticeablly nicer to work with.

IIRC, someone was looking to fake a fisheye lens look? This might help.
