Suck it up princess. I've been paying tax for about 22 years now, so I think I earned it!

Meh, hasnt stopped me spending like as if i was getting it. Lets see...

the netbook, Angus' old 85mm 1.8, xbox 360, an oly trip 35 and probably one of those dell 23" screens in a few weeks to replace my tv and current pc monitor. Im still doing my part for the economy

Same here Sammy. Much easier to earn money when I'm not doing year 12... :p

And easier when you are working more than one shift a week

The 2309W's ? I have two on my desk at work - nice screens, lots of resolution - not sure what the colour response is like as I've not tried to calibrate them.

I wish I had more than one shift a week. Less than $100 a week when you're into photography is a bad combo :(

Want to take the spyder to work for a day? :p

Just seems like an affordable thing for what it offers. Just have to sort out a VGA adaptor for the xbox and Im set. Dont think that an extra inch is worth the extra $100 they want to charge though.

I was the same last year. It sucked. I still managed to make around $10K though. Just not enough to get the $900. Meh, like Sam, I'm still stimulating the economy. :p

From his descriptions, it sounds like he sifts through poo samples. Draw your own conclusions as to whether or not he'd enjoy it. Colin probably would. :p

I started working in October and I've earnt a bit over $2,500. That's over 6 months including the Christmas holidays. I thought I did well but it's actually not that great when it's put into perspective like that

Couple more days till Easter break! Can't wait! Haven't been on recently so I am pretty behind O_O.
Anywho... I am in a dilemma. As always. I currently manage all my photos through LR2 however I am now having second thoughts. Would it be better to use Bridge instead or does LR do an equally good of a job. Also, a growing issue seems to be that as I obtain more photos, the catalogue in LR is going to get massive. I've already implemented a metadata system however... as more photos accumulate, I fear LR will slow down. Should I create a new catalogue over a certain period of time? Say every year?

Your opinions will be greatly appreciated ^^.
Got myself a job and I'm enjoying it. Servers are so much better then mankinis haha. May be I will be able to afford some TT gear :D

I have the Kenko 1.4x Pro 300 and it's excellent.

I read a heap of comparisons before I bought it and everything I could find said it outperformed the Canon equivalent.

More than happy with the Sigma 1.4 and 2.0 on my 120-300/2.8

Thanks, now I know what to look at when I go to the shop on Wednesday. Hopefully they have stock!

Yeah, I guess. Oh well, I'm quite happy with my gear right now and I'll be even happier once I upgrade to the 40D.

Definitely not. Just seemed odd when I thought about it. As I said, happy with my gear and I don't need a lot of money, I'm still in school and still living at home so whatever I earn is great.

Personally I can't stand bridge, it's slow, clunky and far from intuitive.

Why do you think it'd be better than LR2 for what you do ?

Also, a growing issue seems to be that as I obtain more photos, the catalogue in LR is going to get massive. I've already implemented a metadata system however... as more photos accumulate, I fear LR will slow down. Should I create a new catalogue over a certain period of time? Say every year?

I do catalogues per year. I know some busy wedding photographers do catalogues per client. LR doesn't tend to slow significantly until you get about 20k images in the catalogue, but you may find smaller catalogues suit your working style better.

Enjoyable enough for now. I work in sample reception at a state health lab. On the biological side, we are a reference lab for notifiable conditions (Dengue fever, salmonella cases, norovirus, measles etc) and we also have labs for water testing that do work for places all around the country. Then we have the morgue and forensic toxicology and food chemistry and investigative chemistry (they do all sorts, air quality testing to therapeutic drug destruction). Enough to keep you interested for a while and pretty much everything in the building goes through us first, well except things for the morgue, we handle send aways for specimens going to the central state labs though.

The pay is still pretty awesome all things considered and i work with some top notch people.
