it is worth buying a camera at 30% off and then selling it on ebay? would you break even enough for the trouble?

edit: i think ill wait for 40-50% off

Depending on how you list the thing, ebay and paypal will cost you about 12-15%. Plus state tax on the initial purchase.

You are right, 40-50% would be nicer. However, I think there is/will be a flood in the new camera gear market with all the flippers.

Was that 30 or 40% off?

Tried calling a few stores and keep getting the can't give out pricing or availability comment from the workers

Hate doing running out again for 30%, but 40% gets me going

at the Totowa/Wayne store in New Jersey (not sure what town, its on the border of the two) - last new lens in store, only had like 3 75-300s open box in the back of the case otherwise... may check out the paramus nj store and see whats goin on there ;)

-i believe it was 30% off as that was what the cameras were at (last week when i was there the 50 was $291, so im assuming that was at 20% and just came down another 10% today... maybe your store went down today since we were only at 20 here and went to 30?)

oh and i got a sunpak starter kit with a brush blower, cleaning solution, lens tissues and microfiber cloth (with a tiny tripod for a P&S lol) for $8.99... accessories are at a pretty good price if you know what to look for (ie tripods etc)

I think that's kinda risky. Of course if you pick up the 50D kit at $1,120 (lets say sales tax puts it at $1,200) you could break it up and sell the lens for say $250-$300 and that would leave you body only at $900 - $950 at break even before e-bay commission. For the small potential upside I wouldn't risk it.

I think all the 50D kits will go at 30%...so probably not a play here.

Zeabrid, I know you're getting slammed with requests and I appreciate what you're doing. I'm looking for an XS10 IS within 50 miles or so of 34205. If you have any store locations and the price that would be great!

OK Zeabird...how do I handle this situation...

I ran by the CC closest to me. When I was last there they only had some 75-300s and 55-250s. I walk in and there are like half a dozen 70-300s behind the counter...JACK POT!

So I ask the guy what they are ringing up for. He grabs one and scans it, then proceeds to tell me $779!!!

I said "$779...are you sure, that seems awfully high?"
He said "Yeah, $779, you probly seen it cheaper somewhere else."

I was thinking, yeah, EVERYWHERE ELSE!!!!

So I left and decided to go to the store across town where I saw them for $454 last week and just buy one out of spite. I get there and all they have left in any camera stuff is displays....grrrrrrr.

Now I am home, discouraged and a little pissed and drinking a bourbon and coke :D. Planning on going back to the store tomorrow and asking for a manager if necessary.

(They did have the 50D kit marked as $1125, didn't see if there were any in stock though)

Zebra

So I went to my local circuit city (02035) and saw that, to my surprise, they had a 430ex and a canon 100mm macro lens for sale, displays only. I figured I hit the jackpot, and could get a deal, HOWEVER, they said that they only sell display items at FULL PRICE, which is contrary to every other post I have seen here. No lens cap, no box, nothing, but still full price. Are they wrong, should I speak with a manager, or is every store different?

5D3, lenses, tripod, and a flash.

I've been tending to find that every store is different. I went to a circuit city tonight and was wondering if they could check the other 3 in town for a 430ex and said they couldn't so I dunno.
