Anyone have both of these and can give a comparison? IQ, build, etc. I have the 28-135 and have thought of replacing it with the 50-150. I don't care to hear about getting a 70-200 or 24-105 or anything else. Just curious if anyone has had both of these and what their thoughts are. I know ones 3.5-5.6 IS and the other is 2.8 non IS.

Well , I can't tell you how it compares to the 28-135. But, I can give you my thoughts on the 50-150mm and how it compares to lens I own or have used.
If interested let me know.

Unless you need the speed of the 50-150, I don't see much point in switching. The 28-135 IS provides a nice useful range similar to a 70-200 on a FF.

Except the 28-135 is a stop slower and doesn't have the optics.

The new models seem to do ok.

from some of he samples i have seen on this lens, i am itching to purchase this lens.. its going for a steal of a deal on amazon.com. at about 150 less than BH.

but the samples that i have been seeing, are really making me want this, its hsm, and you havethat extra stop for lower light situations.

I like the extra stop, 2.8 on the 50-150 but you have the IS on the 28-135. I guess I would really like to know if the 50-150 has better IQ? And if the AF is faster.

The Canon has micro USM, while the Sigma has ring HSM and much better performance. I can't comment on the 28-135's optics, but the Sigma's are outstanding. IS comes in handy for static objects, while faster aperture is better for moving objects.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

No comparison bw the two lenses. Build and IQ on the EX smoke the Canon 28-135 IS. But that's not a surprise, right? :D

I think Tony and LightRules put it in a nutshell.

But. the AF on my 50-150mm is very fast. I think it's a tad faster then my 100-300mm EX f/4. IQ wise, color, contrast and sharpness are outstanding.

It also handles the 1.4 converter very well. I also tried a 2x converter on it and was surprised at the results.

Umm, the 50-150 has two stops on the 28-135 on focal lengths that matter.
