Ok, so this is my first attempt at a car shoot so looking forward to honest opinions. My first thought is that I may have overdone it with the filter so I can't decide whether these look good or just cheesey. Personally I quite like them but would love to hear what others think.

Not Bad,

I would like to see the front wheels turned the other direction in the last few shots, gives the vehicle a much nicer stance.

I'd prefer to take two shots w/wout the filter & blend them, but the last three are OK. The light on #3 looks pretty good. Turn the wheel & leave more room at the front for it to "move into". Post #4 in: MOVE YOUR FEET! A <rant> of sorts.

#2 is my favorite although the reflections on the body of the car are a bit distracting(in my opinion).

Thanks for the positive comments, good to see that I'm heading in about the right direction but some great tips to help me along. Much appreciated.

The car is a Mondeo which I've got on hire whilst Landrover try to figure out what is wrong with my Freelander. That will be the subject of my next shoot assuming I ever get it back seeing as it's been in the shop now for nearly 2 months!

It's amazing how European Fords actually have some tasteful designs. Their American counterpart look like garbage (along with the rest of our domestic crap).

I was shooting for Ford in Europe in 1970 & they had some nice looking ones to drive. It took years for them to get here & the "design by committee" system screwed them up anyway.

Something has occured to me which I'm not entirely sure about. In picture 1 the sky is reflected in the water and because I used a filter the reflection is a different colour to the sky. Could this be seen as a problem or can I file it under artistic licence?

I have a better example here.

Never seen a filter effect like that before! Was this done in photoshop or with an actual filter on the lens? Nice shots nonetheless, just gotta remember to turn those wheels!

Thanks, it was just a cheap Cokin filter, tobacco I believe. I'm fairly new to filters so still finding my way a little bit but it does seem like an easy way of adding an extra dimension. The trick I guess is not to overdo it.

QUOTED IMAGE

nice work for your first go!

i would select the top half of the pic and then transform it and make it appera like a reflection, then reduce the opacity and a layer mask to fix what doesnt look right, here is a quick edit i just did doing that
