We have had lots of shots of Vancouver covered in snow from the recent snowfall, but where are all the fog shots from the last couple of days? These were handheld (no shivering allowed) from Cypress lookout mostly.

I know I am not the only one who snapped off a couple of shots: ;)

At sunrise:

A little later:

Only the tops of the towers for the Lions Gate Bridge, the tops of skyscrapers and construction cranes peek through the fog:

The afternoon sun starts to burn off the fog

So what does everyone else have from da fog?

Thanks for the kind words.

I was heading up to do a little snowshoeing on the mountain, and I was there just after the road up the mountain opened up at 7 am. I was stunned to see that many photographers already set up when I got there.

The other shots were taken later in the day on the way down the mountain - just as many photogs then too!

One more shot showing the bridge towers and some tree tops in Stanley Park:

Wow, those are some crazy shots. Is it like that everyday? Well done.

Nope. The fog results from a temperature inversion, which happens a couple of times every winter. When I left the mountain, it was 9 deg C at the top, but only 2 deg C in the city under the remaining fog.

Again, very cool.

Nice stuff, Tony. I figured it'd be good to head up Cypress during all this fog but just didn't have the time to get there.

What lens were you using?

4, 6 and 7 were shot from just off Chippendale in the British Properties - away from the crowd . 4 is not cropped - 6 & 7 cropped a little bit to remove the tops of a couple of trees in the foreground.

Very cool indeed. I guess I must venture up to Cypress myself and fight for a spot. I never knew about that lookout until now.

Nice pics! I was up on Burnaby mountain on saturday for sunset. There were quite a few other people up there taking photos too. Downtown was a little far away, but I got a few nice ones of the taller buildings in the Metrotown area poking up through the fog.
