Ok, so I don't know were this should go... so I'm just putting it here. I was out hiking Saturday and came across this thing...

I couldn't figure out how to open it, if it does. I really don't know what it is or what it could be used for.

Does anyone have a clue?

:D

Having had my share of stringing in my early years, that's a real that barbed wire came on. It gives the stringers something to stick a pipe through and string it out. That would make a nice "Grungy" print framed in old fence planks.

Looks more like a bird trap or something?

That's what I thought, but there isn't a way to open it.

It really is a barbed wire spool. With all the wire off it, it would lay flat. Don't know about bird trap but, while pulling a strand tight it came undone from 100 feet away and it wound me up like a lose toy top. After my gramp stopped laughing he unrolled me and said next time make the connections stay.
Never thought about those days till I saw that photograph.
Thanks for the reminding, I got a chuckle from it.
Like the three stoogies all tangled up.
I got lucky it only nicked me here and there.
