Kindly let me how much it cost and is it really useful for the non IS lens? Need your suggestion..

Hi

There is a review at www.the-digital-picture.com (external link) and also a link to B&H photo where it costs about $150. If you think it's way too much money you could get a "pirate copy" like this one (external link) on DealExtreme for about $20.

I think it's very useful for both the IS and the non IS 70-20 f/4 especially when the lens is mounted with a 1.4 TC, makes it all much more well balanced. And when switching from landscape to portrait orientation (or vice versa) it will rotate the camera around the lens axis.

I bought an E-Bay knock off tripod mounting ring and it works fine for me. I just bought it to relieve stress on the body with the lens hanging off. Also, on a tripod, the lens/body will be a better balanced package.

I have heard rumours that the quality of the metal in some of these knock offs is not good thus causing them to break and possibly having your camera fall on the ground. My copy seems to be a good one thusfar however (crosses fingers).
