What are people's opinions on aftermarket NP-E3 battiers for the 1D, 1Ds, 1D2, 1Ds2, 1D2n?

I was looking at these Delkin NP-E3 2200mAh replacements
http://www.delkin.com …productid=96&cat=0&page=1 (external link)

and was wondering how they compare to OEM.
Is the weather sealing the same? do they fit snugly like the OEM ones do?

Should I be concerned about computability issues with them?

I read the reviews on B&H for the Impact brand
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …NiMH_Battery.html#reviews (external link) but the reviews are very mixed leaning more towards the -(cons)

Same goes for the CTA brand
http://www.bhphotovideo.com …_Battery_12v.html#reviews (external link)
more negatives and reasons not to use.

I won't attempt to recommend a supplier because I'm in the UK. But in general terms when I had my 1D mark IIN I had a spare third party battery and couldn't see any major difference between that and the original OEM Canon battery at all. The fit was pretty much as good, weather sealing seemed to be the same, there was possibly a slight difference in the colour but nothing important. The main thing is that it performed every bit as well as the Canon battery at a fraction of the price.

I'd recommend going with a make that you've heard of and one that will stand by their product. But batteries are certainly something that you can save a considerable amount on.

The Lenmar's are spoken highly of on FM.

Will i notice a difference between 1800mAh and 2200mAh(Delkin) $35 vs $80 is a big difference for batteries that may or may not make any difference in shooting duration.

How are they for fitment?

well I bought a Delkin NP-E3 and while it looks exactly the same, the end cap is impossibly hard to latch on the body. and once it is latched, the top edge sticks off about 2mm and your hand gets caught on it

I just bought a dead canon NP-E3 to swap the cap off of.

I just ordered Canon np-e3 from Adorama last week.

I figured from other posts if you spend that much on a mk2n, I was not going to take a chance on one fitting and the other one not.

Now I have ordered bp-511 from sterlingtek and they have been great for my 40d but you are talking alot of price difference too.

I ordered two Canon MP-E3 last week from the camera store that
I buy from, never a problem with factory replacements. I am going
to order two more today, however they are not cheap, about
$120.00 each.

exactly...$120 for a battery is insane! the NP-E3 is nothing fancy!

i wish sterlingtek make replacements for cheap like the BP511s are.

I'm going to give the Delkin NP-E3's a second chance. Two of the three that were purchased within a month’s span are dying prematurely. Delkin will replace the batteries under warranty. Still a hassle though. If they do not work, I'll bite the bullet and buy the originals at $120 each.

I just received a Delkin yesterday ($36 shipped)--comes with two year warranty, and looks like it is rated at 2300 mAH on the label. The weather seal looks fine on it. The only thing that may "feel" a little flimsier (if there's such a word) is the twist latch. But it seems to lock in just fine. I conditioned it, and charged it. Time will tell whether it holds up, but with a two year warranty from Delkin and the price, I'm not too concerned.
