I hate having to ask this question... but I'd rather be embarrassed with functioning equipment in use than prideful with it on the shelf.

I just purchased an RC2 plate to put on the tripod collar of my 70-200. The plate is identical to the one that came with my head (488RC2), except that one of the three guide holes has a small bolt in it. I think this is to ensure it is mounted precisely on certain equipment, but the collar of my lens doesn't have any similar orifice to accept this bolt.

Now, the nut, or at least what I think is a nut, is circular also, and the holes through the plate are not threaded. I peeled back the padding, and can't figure out how I am supposed to remove this. I could try holding it with pliers, but unless that's the way it's supposed to be done I feel like that would be like driving finishing nails with a sledge hammer...

Little help?

Awesome... This might be yet another thread for the classic camera blunders collection!

I second your motion, do we have a third?

Glad you figured it out, but I was trying to remember mine as well and I thought that there was a rubber grommet thingy filling a hole to remove the screw through.
