Would you be so kind as to send some lights our way?? They have been very quiet this year. Nice shots!!

I was home for 3 weeks and the weather was terrible all the time. So finally two nights before I had to go back for work this showed up. And of course now while at work the weather is perfect!

All great shots ! I noticed the last one has an Iridium Flare going throught it so you have a double catch !

Thank you. I thought it was a meteorite :)

Glorious!

When you see them in person do they look much like this?
Or are they different?

Thank you.
I try to make them look like the original. So I lower the saturation a little. But on camera it gets more greener than natural. Could also be caused by the long exposure. I have noticed that Nikon cameras makes them way more greener and totally off in color.

Fantastic shots. I really like #3. It looks like an alien rainbow's end.

Those are among the most beautiful shots I have ever seen with my own eyes. Extremely nice work. <---That's an EXTREME understatement. God I gotta get one of those 10-22s. I'm surprised they stitched so well. Im guessing cause the sky is mainly filled with void? (dark)?

Absolutely Stunning as always Helge. Love them all.

Forgot to ask you about your HDR Pano's - do you process the individual exposures in Photomatix first and then stitch them together or do you sticth the panos and then process in Photomatix?

What stitching program do you use?

I have bookmarked you flickr page so I can follow your photos.

Thank you for your kind words.
When you do panoramas you have to think overlap all the time. Minimum 30%.
Do a metering right above the brightest area. Go to full manual and use the info from the metering. Also set manual whitebalance. It will change most of the time if you have it on auto.
I have northern lights images that are covering the image by 70% so it depends how active it is.

I prefer CS3 for doing the stiching. I have tried other that are much faster.
But I always end up going back to CS3.

They are very nice when the light is very active. But now the sun has very low activity. So the light have been very weak and slow moving. But then I can make nice panos.

Yes, you will need some luck and good weather to see it also. But it's worth the wait :)
