@Pham -- Looks like we are gonna C & C you now like Joe McNally. Welcome to the big leagues!

#1 Not a fan of the crop, but for a different reason. The sliver of concrete at the bottom grabs the eye. Getting rid of that, or making it bigger and giving it some context would help. Ditto for the vertical siding edge bottom right of frame. Its like a dark line, competing for attention. Finally, the speculars on the purse grab the eye as well.

#2 I see mbells points on the pose and hands. I'm okay with the surroundings, cause thats your style. The orange spill in the background though is distracting me. Its like a spot light to nowhere. A wise man once said "anything that doesn't add to a photo subtracts from it" That spill is one of those things.

#3 Her face is lit wonderfully, but the orange rim light is betraying you again. The highlights are visually distracting, as is the heavy shadow outlining her right forearm. The shot definitely needs some fill in that area, or some post work.

As always, I'd be like a little giggly girl if my shots looked this good, but hey, I take pictures of houses. Whadya I know? :)

Anyone get their AB Max pre-order fulfillment calls yet? Just curious. I'm staying with my old school bees for now.

Not yet. I put my pre-order in on June 1st but I haven't been contacted yet. There are 31 days in July hopefully I won't have to wait that long. This will be my first Alien Bee purchase, but long time fan.

It is all good Matto, I need all the help I can get..

Though things are starting to come together for me.. so for you to throw in the Mcnally name in the same post is a good thing..

As for the C and C.. I am totally for it.. it will make me better every time..

Shooting outdoors is fast pace and I don’t think about all the ins and outs but my lighting, posing, sometimes clients poses them selves, but it is still all my work..

I learn every time I go out and shoot.. I try different places and always challenged with different ambient light.. (I guess this is why my local studio guys never go out.. they have their controlled environment, and they know their numbers) luxuries I don’t have.

So yes.. we just walk and plop and shoot and wham I have a photo to share with you guys..

It is so fun.. so I will keep the photos coming..

Phamster – full time engineer- trial and error photographer LOL..

@ Mbell75

I didn’t take these with any wide angle lens , for the record it was the 85L 1.2 @ 2.2..
So the blur you see is real..

Phamster

@Pham.

Joe McNally has said "I have made every mistake you can make as a photographer -- twice. But I made them because I was out TAKING PICTURES! I learn something each time, and occasionally one turns out okay."

It won't be long before I'm ponying up $300 for a day long Phamster seminar .... money well spent! :)

I like these a lot. Cool idea to have the location in the shady grove, but she's all lit up like a neon sign. What modifier did you have on your AB800? It must have been pretty big....
