This thing is much larger than I anticipated. Even Buster thinks so...
For scale, the tiles are 12".

Buster is wondering when you're going to fill that dish w/ food :D

you should see the speedo dish...it's 10" deep...

QUOTED IMAGE

Nice shot, Pham. I wonder if you used warm gels on the strobe camera left if it would have a better effect after the flames were added.

I figured it's better to ask here than start a new thread.

Which would give me better versatility and more uses when shooting portraits, group shots, or just people in general?

Option 1: Silver 86” 16 Rib Parabolic Umbrella with 86” White Front Diffuser Fabric
or
Option 2: White 86” 16 Rib Parabolic Umbrella, 86” White Front Diffuser Fabric, 86” Black Front Spill Kill Fabric, and 86” Black Outer Cover

I know that technically option 2 will give me more, varied uses, but does it beat the silver PLM if they're put head-to-head for the same type of shoot? Does that make sense? I'm trying to decide which to buy first. I know I will end up buying both soon. Budget is tight right now and I'm still looking to get that Norman boom that Edgar has as well as a 50 1.4 to replace my nifty fifty. Decision, decision.

Also, I was wondering if there's a point anymore in getting a foldable octabox if I can just get option 2 above?

I'm going to see if I can adjust the lever on the lock to tighten it up. Did that with another bee, but this box is pretty heavy.

If you pull out the lever, it will rotate freely so you can crank it more. Just grab it and pull it straight out. I figured this out after noticing the same thing with the tightening lever on my Manfrotto 486 ballhead. Every once in a while I won't be able to turn the lever 100% tight because it hits part of the tripod or whatever. Just pull out perpendicularly, and you can reposition the lever. Kind of like you would do if you had a wrench and you were tightening a nut (which, in effect, is what you're doing). The lever is spring loaded so it will pull back into place once you've moved it.
