Photoflex strip boxes are 55'

BUT they're not foldable

Does photoflex have grids for their boxes too?

Yes they do have grids. Very well made and reasonably priced.

Sean,
I have the 86 Silver, and the 64 Silver and white PLMs
the 86 with the front panel is a nice BIG soft light source.
The 64 white with the spill kill panel is a nice soft light source as well.

I didn't get the front panel for the 64 silver.

Here are a couple of examples.

The woman was shot using the 64 silver as main to camera left and the 64 white with spill kill above the camera for fill. (B800s)

The dad and baby was shot with the 64 silver as main, the 86 silver with defusion panel for fill and a 10x36 foldable softbox for the kicker. (WL1600s)

Thanks, David. So whether I go silver or white, as long as they're both set up the same way, I'll pretty much get the same results?

Also, I just got back from B&H before they closed and bought the Avenger D600 instead of the Norman that Edgar has. I don't know why B&H has booms and boom arms in separate categories. I would have never seen this Avenger since I was always looking under boom arms.

Hi Sean,

The D600 is excellent. You'll like it very much.

I would disagree with your first statement about white and silver giving the same results when set up the same way. If that was the case then it wouldn't make sense for there to be different styles and there are clear differences between a modifier with a silver or white interior.

How much of a difference would there be between a silver PLM with a front diffuser and a white PLM with a black cover and front diffuser?

As for the Avenger D600, I can't believe it only costs $5 more than the Norman but can hold so much more weight. I'm going to open it up right now. Hehe. I can't wait to get home and try it.

UPDATE: The hook on the boom is upside down! -.-;

UPDATE, UPDATE: I had the grip upside down! LOL!!!

Tell me about it! Lol. My stands can not handle this. I'm going to have to keep my stand at minimum height and just extend the boom. What do you think is the best way until I get a proper stand for this monstrosity?

There would be a difference for sure, all though I am no master on PLM's (I've never even used one.

I myself would rather have the one on the far right:

Because it would act more like a softbox/octabox/quintuplabox (LOL) than an umbrella.

Maybe you should wait for Pham or someone with more knowledge on the subject before you make a decision though.

P.S. I am having another automotive shoot today.

EDIT: If anything ever goes south with my AB boom, I'll definitely get the Avenger :)
