^Thanks so much! You also reminded me that I forgot to post the lighting info on my flickr! I think I took a set-up shot, too, but I'll just tell you the set-up... I had two B800s, one with a socked beauty dish and one with the 7" reflector... I'm pretty sure that I just had one camera-left and one camera-right... Hope this helps!

I realized that it's very easy to overpower the sun with two 800s...

WamGuy, I would love to see the setup shot also! I love the shots with the sun in them and have been trying it out, but mine did not look all that good.#

Here is one when I was just by myself (and had to use myself). I know it is crooked, I did not PS these mush as they were just for practice.

^It just looks like you have a little light fall-off on one side... Do you have the B800(s) or 1600(s)? You could just try having one on either side and then the sun behind the subject. That was my set-up for those shots. I looked, and I forgot to take a set-up shot for that particular set of photos... :( Sorry! But yeah, your photos look great, but I think a strobe on either side would really make it pop, because the subject would be evenly lit, etc. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I have the 800's, and only brought one with me when I was trying it. I will bring two for the next try.

No big deal about the setup shot, I just like to see how high/low people have their lights for different shots.

Thanks for the tip, and I will try it out when I get back in the country!!

Has anyone bought grids from PCB since the new price drop a little while ago? Is the quality poor or are they pretty good? I am looking at getting the set for my Elinchrom D-lite. The damn Elinchrom grids are so fricken expensive.

Remember Dave, if you don't like the PCB grids, the Speedotron's are available for the same price as the PCB grids used to be, which is $100 for the set of 4.

Thanks.

I couldn't say for sure but so far it seems that any of the leading manufacturers with a 7" reflector will accept any of these standard 7" grids, as long as the reflector is in fact considered a 'grid reflector'.

Yeah, you'll probably need two if you're going straight into the sun, but if you're at a 90 degree angle to it, you'll only need one B800... It looks like you had them at about the right height. You might want a little more light on the legs/feet, but that can also be done on PS...

Just edited one more! If you want to see it larger, check out my flickr...

Thank you sir. May be I will do a "try and error" on this.. if it works; good but if not, then resell it. Thanks though.

This is my first attempt with the new B800 and my 580EX II. I'm new with the lights so any CC would be welcomed. I know the watch is a little beat up, but I just love Citizen's Eco line, I told myself I would get a new one this year......

Also how do you get around light flares on watches and eye glasses? One of my photos has it bad on the number 4.

K1 - Those look good! There was a tutorial on the strobist site about avoiding flare on glasses and surfaces like that... If I remember correctly, they just said try to ensure that no light is reflecting off of the surfaces too harshly... You can manage this by moving the light around to see the way that it bounces off the glass in the least glare-producing way. Check the strobist site, too, though, because they have more info about it.

infek - That is awesome! That's a great use of long exposure - very inspiring image!

Here's a before and after of my last photo, if anyone's interested... Excuse the facebook quality...
