First pic post, so apologies if I miss some protocol....

This was a very impromptu pic I was asked to do on the spot. Then only had 15 or 20 to minutes to process before sending to be printed.

I see some obvious problems which I could've corrected with more time and experience. Wanted to see if I am on the right track in terms of how to fix in the future. Thanks.

Details:
F 5.6
Tv = 1/40 s
ISO 400
Used tripod, and had a visitor press the shutter.

Used 430ex flash FEC was set to +2 or +3, pointed straight up to bounce off ceiling.

I shot in RAW, did very quick WB adjustment, then converted to TIFF.

Imported TIFF in Gimp and did a noise reduction, then a smart sharpen--very quickly.

Then had to crop so that it would fit in 8x10 frame. Added maroon border in Gimp also.

Pretty nicely done considering the subject, timing, and cramped environment.

at first glance it looks good, here are a few points

some only have one arm showing, some have two (front row)
bits of their shoes & far right guy's arm are cropped
+1 on the coffee cup
crossed legs in front row looks a bit awkward, like they are all queueing for the loo, & their pants look pulled out of shape
lady centre back is too short for the position, should stagger adjacent rows to avoid crowding
row heights are uneven (rhs is much higher than lhs)
too much space above their heads compared to at their feet

but good effort considering the limits

Thanks for the comments.

I was 5 minutes from leaving my house when they called me and asked me to bring the camera...lol

When I got there the first two rows were already in place :)

Some things I noticed when I had the chance to look later were 1-coffee mug, 2- glare from peoples glasses (anyone have some tips on that one?) , 3- processing was too hasty-- plus I have only been shooting RAW for a couple weeks. Need more info on best workflow format.

I have enjoyed reading the many fine posts and example pics on this site. Keep up the good work.

oh..and by the way...I am the guy whose arm is cropped off...lol
