They're not really all that great at being "photographic" portraits, but I printed these off and their grandmother was extremely pleased with them.

Technically, I was pleased. I just used a bounced flash and manual mode (that's the only way I can understand how the flash works with the 1D!!)

Thanks for the nice comments, guys. I was really pleased with the colours here - I didn't have to change or boost anything in the processing - it was just how it came out of the camera.

The only processing I did was some edge-mask sharpening which helped make them "pop" nicely.

It was a shame that I couldn't position myself to get both kids eyes in the same focal plane (to get them both in focus). But hey, you know what it's like taking photos of kids...
