So after reading a little thread about the Golden Hour I decided to go out and shoot some 1 hour before sunset .. When I arrive at my destination lord and behold - I saw the sunset and decided to start shooting until sunset ..

this is my 1st set so hit me hard ...

C&C are always welcome and encourage - even if you think they suck, I would not mind hearing why .. thanks and I hope ya enjoy .. :D

these pictures sort of make my eyes hurt the sun's so bright, which is weird since it's the same as just looking at a blank white page. maybe because i know it's a picture of the sun and the sun's usually too bright to look at. anyway, they're all ok, nothing spectacular though. weird halo thing around the sun in the 3rd picture. also, the piece of ice that's really bright in the first picture sticks out.

if you do hdr, you have to go back into photoshop and fix all the ghosting. also, i think you should've tried the hdr when the sun was a little higher.

Why not wait until you have a partly cloudy day and do this again? These are OK as the Dr. said; but not terribly interesting.

thanks guys - I was just shooting and saw the sunset and got overly exited ..

I never had taken pictures of the sunset or even seen one - so yes - lol - I got a little to happy.

if you do hdr, you have to go back into photoshop and fix all the ghosting. also, i think you should've tried the hdr when the sun was a little higher.

I'll have to find info about fixing ghosting in PS I only been doing this for about 1 1/2 month now (Photographing and working with PS) ... The funny thing is that as soon as I ran these thru photomatix and saw the results I said - this pictures are a little to DARK for HDR - might not be the case, but IMO they were not good HDR material .. nevertheless I liked them as these where my 1st set of Sunset ..

Thanks for your criticism guys - very appreciated!

Try using the golden hour to take photos with the sun at your back or side instead of into the sun.

http://www.stuckincustoms.com/hdr-tutorial/ (external link) - this guy does a very nice tutorial about how he takes out ghosting by using different layers. also, his stuff is sick.
