You'll do fine....enjoy the spotlight!

I was told I did very well by several people who have been active in the field for longer than I've been alive. Then we were told the bill was killed. It's actually OK, as the bill as written was pretty poor. We just needed to get something in that could be amended later. Perhaps better is that the people who invited me to speak have now been invited to participate in discussions about future legislation that they've always been excluded from before. It doesn't sound like much, but it's actually a significant breakthrough.

Anytime, Suzy. I'd love the company.

Understand, Mo lives maybe 3 hours from here, but she's coming to see you instead. She also drive right past here when she visits her mom, but will she and Skip so much as wave (much less stop by).....oh, noooooooo.

Now, I find out she's going a vacation to Yellowstone with Kevin. Does she invite me and my wife to go along?.....on, nooooooooo

You can come and visit me anytime you'd like. Bring the family.

If we ever make it down your way, we'll be sure to let you know. We'll bring the kids and give you and Mrs. Chief another chance to decide if parenting is for you.

I actually let Mo know about the Alaska Scrapbook Cruise that I'm going on with my wife later this summer. If she and Skip decide to go, I'll be sure not to tell you.

Arnt we all. it sucks that the two people in the car with cameras had to fly home. i would have gladly rode with them if i knew the limo would catch on fire.

my buddy jimmy took a birding photo (yikes even i found this in poor taste)

http://www.amazon.com …lkiens-Lord/dp/0451452615 (external link) in this classic novel they refer to it as the Dreaded Nikon zoom. that in itself makes it the dark side.

Yes, Maureen is coming here, but that's because she got cheap tickets and I have lots of room for her. We are going to walk and shoot the whole time. I can't wait! I am landing in LA on my way to HI, but I doubt you can get through security to see me. I'll wave to you while I'm in the air, Tom. :)

Yeah, there just hasn't been a chance. My brother and his wife are arriving tonight for a 2-day visit, and he's the main reason I'd be driving north.

Really? I'm in Indian Wells, immediately east of Palm Desert.....about a 5-minute drive from here.

In fact, I'm on the south side of Hwy 111, almost directly across from the Tennis Garden.

On your approach to LA, look down. If you see something white that looks like a beluga whale laying next to a swimming pool, that would be me. Please do wave.;)

Big SX1 IS news.....http://www.shutt3r.com/photo-bar/305385/ (external link)

Could this now be the official replacement for the S5IS as the camera of pros??

Old news. You should get out more.

SuzyView wrote in post #7402764 (external link)
I have recommended the S5IS to many friends and the school my sons attend. Everyone that uses it loves it. So, if they do a new model, I hope it performs well.

The SX10's actually the direct successor to the S5; same lens and resolution as the SX1, same video and shooting speed as the S5, and same price range ($320-$350 street). The SX1 and SX10 came out at the same time, so it's been around a while, just the SX1 wasn't released in the US.

SuzyView wrote in post #7402970 (external link)
I just looked at that Canon site and read the specs. Very impressive. I don't know if f2.8 would do it for me, but it's pretty impressive for a P&S. Just the price $660 is steep.

That's the $US of the Singapore price. Canon USA has MSRP of $599; it'll be less shortly after it hits the streets here.

Woolburr wrote in post #7402975 (external link)
The G10 doesn't offer a 20x optical zoom, a flip lcd, full 1080i video, or a host of other fancy features.

Like up to 4 fps, and CMOS, not CCD, sensor.

Woolburr wrote in post #7402983 (external link)
B&H has it listed for 599 ....still rather pricey.

Again, MSRP - it'll come down after the initial rush. Berger Bros. is offering it for $579. Not sure whether that balances off against B&H or Adorama $599 and free shipping though. I'm ordering one.

Having spent most of my career working in state and federal government positions, I'm pretty tuned in to the significance of the breakthrough. It often takes a ton of small victories to get even remotely close to where you need to be...but a victory is always a step in the right direction! :D

Wow...I hadn't heard the part about Canon enabling RAW on it prior to this morning. Supposedly that is the delay in release to the US...the US models will all come from the factory RAW enabled. Only previous RAW talk I had heard was someone asking if anyone was working on a crack.
