Thats awesome David, what were their projects? Part of me can't wait until our daughter is old enough to do stuff like this, but the other part just wants her to stay tiny :)

Thanks! The oldest tried to measure whether organic or synthetic fertilizer would help plants grow the most. Unfortunately, all but three of his plants croaked during the experiment (:lol::oops: ), but he documented his work so thoroughly that the judges were still impressed.

The youngest wanted to know what kind of bird feeder birds liked best. We had a suet cage and a seed feeder with a similar mix in each. He found that bigger birds liked the suet cage, and smaller birds the tube feeder, and that we had a whole lot more small birds than little birds.

It's the first time either has been selected as a winner -- the first grader on his first try.

You'll have plenty of time for school activities later. Enjoy the tiny time now!

Evening moooo, all.

Sorry, Six -- no avi suggestions at all. Not even going to go there.

School science fair was tonight. Both boys were selected as winners and will continue on to the district competition in April. There were something like 95 entries, and 15 selected as "Judges' Choice" winners to continue on. We had two very proud boys running around this evening (and their parents were pretty pleased for them, too).

Congratulations David, it's great when your kids are doing well in school.

Congrats to your kids David, our schools don't go in for this as much.

Good luck with your application Gary.

I've been ask to lecture on Macro Photography at a PSQ (Photographic Society of Queensland) Nature Photography day. I'm second last on the program, following on from one of Australia's most known Nature Photographers. A very hard act to follow.

You'll do a fine job. Show some of your work as examples of what you tell them, give everybody a handout with some of your macro suggestions, and you'll be a big hit!

But does he do macro? You're safe - first slide should have them . . . (unless it's a spider).

My bro-in-law attended the University of Santa Clara. He spent his junior year in the Studies Abroad program. Most of the year he was at London School of Economics, and a small part of it at University of Freiberg in Germany.

A spider would still get there attention. They may be listening to the rest of the talk from under their chairs, but you'd have their attention. ;)

He does do some. He markets himself VERY well. Has his own publishing company these days. http://www.steveparish.com.au/ (external link)

Got called away for a minute.

Anyway, 30-odd years later, he still speaks wistfully of that experience. It was the highlight of his educational experience.

Go for it!!
