It's so bad I'm actually watching the cooking channel.

I'm watching a show on Bass fishing. And I'm not an angler... It might be because there's a segment on a world record fish that lived in one of our local lakes.

On the cooking channel, they had some bozo who ate 15 dozen raw oysters.

Maybe I'll watch fishing for a while.

The name of the show is Man vs. Food, and his claim to fame (dubious as it sounds) is he accepts all sorts of eating challenges. http://www.travelchannel.com/TV_Shows/Man_v_Food (external link)

I have no kids tonight. So I ventured out in to the great city of Pendleton for the first time. WOW.... I am really out of place in this town. Made it through 6 bars/clubs and everyone of them was oriented towards cowboys (hicks/hillbillies). But being they guy that I am, I did get several phone numbers and danced with alot of beautiful women (yes my GF was with me, so no naught stuff), even had a few "good ol boys" threaten me.

All in all it was a great evening without my children. I made a few tenative friends.

...and yes I will do it again. Nothing like the pierced and tattooed heavy metal freaks messing up their world. lol j/k ...... sorta :p

See anyone you know? hehehe

around here, nope not a single person. :p

Thanks Dan for that intro. I was trying to find someway for coming back in to the fold and this seems to be a good way of doing it.

I thought that I would drop in and say hi.

HI

I havn't been around much of late. (which I am sure you all have noticed ;) ) BTW, Hi to the newbies around here. long time poster (bliwi aka me) here taking a break.

anyway yes I have been find. To quote Mark Twain, "The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated" . And no I haven't been anywhere near death. (apart from working and no play :( ) but I have just been taking a break for a while from this place. I also haven't been using the camera that much either. In fact when looking around and every talks about the camera and the photos they take, while I take none gets kinda boring.

But hey life does go on. I have been dropping in and reading to see what people have been complaining about the 5Dmk2 and anything new that might be coming up in the up and coming photo trade show.

As for everything else. Well I still have a job and the company is going well at the moment. Which is good for me as it gives me a chance to buy a new car. the old one (which I have had for 10+ years) is getting old and time for a new one. Not much happening on the love front. Even tho there is a cute guy at work I like but not to sure how to go about that. I haven't got any thing new for the camera.. No wait I did get a gray card the other day. got to figure out how to use it. And I do see that a new devices to remote triger a flash has come out. hmmm I have been looking forward to something that size for a while now. I am sure it would come in useful in macro work. When I feel like it again :)

anyway time moves forward . . .

Pendleton is quite the town, the night scene there is definitely "cowboy" oriented. If you go to the Rainbow though they used to have a bunch of photos of the Rodeo that are pretty cool by a local photographer in town there. I can't remember his name but he was like a legend in Pendleton, he just passed away a few months ago if memory serves. (I have a friend who grew up there, hence the random Pendleton knowledge).

I did go there tonight, it was 2nd my stop. It is still VERY cowboy oriented. lol I felt very out of place. First place was The Great Pacific, very "yuppie" crowd.

My favorite bar there was a place called crabbies or something like that. They had a good amount of pool tables. But, still very "cowboy". I'm not much into the bar scene these days so I can't attest to what it would be like now.

I kinda expected a place called "The Rainbow Cafe" to be a .... well the name could lead you to believe its something its not. :p Which I would have enjoyed and probably fit in better than any other place here. lol

I ended up at Crabbies for my final stop. The bartenders were fun and friendly. Didnt seem too "cowboy-ish", they had a local rock station playing. It was a good time there... tons of people.

I am not normally in to the bar scene myself but I needed to get out and those were the easiest targets.
