Two significant things in Belmondoland....

I bought a 28-135 IS from a local POTN member (My buddy, Joayne). I took a couple house photos today, and it's really very sharp. I'm well pleased.

Second bit of news....later this week we're going to one of the local 'Town Hall Meetings," a speaker series that is almost impossible to get tickets for. We managed to score 3 tickets to hear Archbishop Desmond Tutu later this week. I'm not sure what he's famous for, but I think he had something to do with inventing the short skirts ballet dancers wear.

No, cameras are not allowed.

Very cool Chief! And the tickets sound interesting, too. ;)

A bit curious - don't you have the 24-105 already?

I have the 24-105...but the 28-135 has a much nicer range. Now if they made a 24-150....that would be sweet.

Yeah especially on crop, because then it becomes a normal-to-med tele, kinda like a 35-200. Not my style though...

I've had my 28-135 since the early EOS film days....I liked it then...and I have never seen a reason to quit liking it...worked well on the D30....I just like the range and the lens...the 24-105 is a sweet lens for sure, but every time I go out with it....I find myself cursing it for being too short.

Part of my recent nostalgia kick has been to replace my original 'kit' of 6 years ago so I can start taking good pictures again . A few months ago, I found a 10D with less than 4,000 clicks on it. More recently I came across a very sharp copy of a 28-135 IS from a forum member right here in the desert. In fact, I just picked that up from her yesterday. I think it's an excellent lens, and the range is just about ideal for full frame. I took a couple shots on the 5D2, and it gave outstanding results.

That's nice, Chief ;)

It is sometimes nice to take a step back.

Also, it seems you folk are more telephoto oriented. Wool needs to walk around with a 70-200 on FF - that'd be a good range :P I am far more into the wide end.. 17-40 on FF! Different styles and different visions, I figure.
