My buddy wanted me to come over and shoot photos of him before his prom on saturday. i go there set up vagabond and strobes. than realize i dont have a sync cable and i couldn't get them to fire from pop up flash. i felt dumb i need to invest in some pocket wizards i hate sync cables they seem to be spotty at best.

Nice work. The PC connector on the end of sync cables has always been the weak link. You'd think with the way technology has advanced, someone would have come up with a better connector, but no... The advancements have been in the way of high-priced wireless triggers. Obviously driven by profit and not the desire to make a better mousetrap.

Check this out. Yet another amazing talent. This time only 10 years old.

I love watching the expressions on the judge's faces when these people start singing. Especially Simon Cowell...

I want to see a duet with her and Susan Boyle.

Volvo Ocean Race (aka the old Whitbred Round the World Yacht Race) came into Boston on Sunday, for the end of Leg 6 of the race from Rio. The ship above won the leg after being 55 behind the leader at one point, and winning the race by a mere 18 minutes from the 2nd placed boat. Top 3 finished within 20 minutes of one another. Not bad for a 14 day, 4000 mile race! That same ship is also the "fastest modern single hull" ship on the planet too apparently. During an earlier leg, it managed to complete 597 miles in 24 hrs. Not bad for a sail boat!

No, should I? I decided I really like shoulder bags, and could use a slightly larger one for my trip. I hope this one works out, we will see when it gets here.

I do believe that is one of the models that carries the Jon seal of approval.

As well as mine. Most excellent choice!!

Still using my slightly-customized F802 and loving it.

Profit indeed, but also compatibility. Imagine trying to introduce a new keyboard layout. Every once in a while some 'genius' does, and guess what? The world ignores them..... we are too entrenched on our existing layout.

There are alternatives though, some folks have been using mini-DIN connectors, household plug connectors, and then some. I'd like to see something like USB-A, it would survive a lot of abuse, but some twit is bound to plug USB into it and try and find out what it does.

Check out Strobist.blogspot.com for his recommendations about household connectors. I think I even saw recommendations for hotshoe-to-household adapters that completely eliminate the need for you to use PC Sync.

Me use optical slave, easiest, cheapest ($5 each on ebay) and most reliable ;)
