Photo tips from an "expert"...(he must be...red ring glass on a 1D series body);)

Doesn't gel with the POTN tips.

1. You MUST have a PRO body. A 500D is obviously a crap camera that will never take a good shot EVER. An old 20D, or 10D past its prime with way too many clicks will make you look far more professional.

2. Or even better, grab a 1D classic with crap res and crap battery life.

3. To hide the fact you made a bad purchase decision, talk it up like "4MP is more than anybody would ever need since the photodetectors are so huge that we don't need any noise reduction at all."

4. L glass, the more the merrier. Aperture is the holy grail, even if you buy a 200/1.8 to shoot cats in a tree at ISO 100. You can't take a good shot with consumer grade glass, especially the hated 17-85 IS USM.

5. Primes WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER than a zoom, even a crap-o five element prime relic from 35 years ago in a retrofocus design that was VERY far from perfected in its time. (we're not talking about great classics like the 50's Planar design nailed down a hundred years ago).

6. You MUST have the battery grip. If not you will be small of *ahem* or small of bust size depending on your gender. Shooting grip-less is sheer blasphemy.

7. Keep upgrading. The moment a new camera comes out the old one automatically becomes worthless.

8. It's impossible to take a good shot in JPEG. Everybody who has succeeded is lying.

9. Conversely, RAW makes you a rock god and a master photographer.

10. Wedding photographers are the real experts, everybody else is a hack and a lightweight.

Thus spake the commandments of POTN!

:p

Tru dat, stupid behavior on the part of the perp, but quite unprofessional how he was taken down.

There has got to be a better way than to leave the guy flailing around. Cuff him, the normal way, then drape a blanket over him until he agrees to get up and walk to the cop car. I am very sure depts all over the world have procedures to deal with people who will not move under their own power, too - this can't be a rarity.

Sorry, but this guy gets none of my sympathy. I would have set my phaser to 'vaporize.' There were hundreds of thousands of people there last week, and if the police didn't assert themselves, it would have been anarchy----totally chaotic. The mindless excess of Woodstock just aren't appropriate any more, especially at a 'family' event.

There are laws about public nudity, and the police are charged with enforcing those laws, whether a person believes in them or not. Civil disobedience is not a right, it is a choice, and when things go badly, you have to live with that choice. I think the police showed remarkable restraint in this instance. Sorry, earth people, but on this one, you lose. (I got a kick out of them yelling, "The world is watching." To that, I say, "Good. Maybe they'll learn something.")

The British appear to have a handle on it. They seem to average at least one streaker per football game.

Oh yes :P

Where I come from we copied the British system and added our own improvements.. I can almost imagine two guys tackling the perp (fast takedown) followed by the third carrying the tarp!

And if the perp still refuses to move, they can just wrap him in the tarp and carry him in the tarp

30 seconds of excitement, not five minutes

Off to trawl the classified ads. I need a 'pro body' since according to the 10 commandments my 5D is not 'a real pro camera'. :p

Happy trawling, Yoda.

Surprised how far the price on the 1D2N has dropped. But something tells me not to get bitten by the same snake thrice ;)

Besides, after factoring in total cost of ownership, I could pick up a brand new 5Dmk2 for about $400-$500 extra and I KNOW that's a camera I will love.
