With about 4 or 5 exceptions, the people who post in each are totally different.

I know I'm different. My second grade teacher told me so.

we rarely talk gear over there...I just don't think it's the same dynamic. Though sometimes there are gear questions.

There's a lot more of the "after the shot" teaching that happens over there. And sometimes "I'm having this problem when I'm shooting...how do I fix it"...but rarely gear other than "I may buy this...what do you think".

It's a good bunch, and I find everyone there to be very friendly. I am having a little trouble finding common ground with most of them, however. No dog. No kids. No abusive spouse. No exotic illnesses. No train photos (there).

I guess there will always be a place for RRTP in my dangerously enlarged heart.

I'm afraid I'm not a train person...and I do have a dog. And kids. And a grandkid. My spouse...well he's pretty decent to me...weird but decent. But I shoot nikon. Does that mean I fit in a little over here? or am I banished?

I just can't really contribute to the gear discussion. All I have owned is what I still own. 20D, 50D, 16-35, 24-70, 70-200 IS and both kits lenses. I am still considering the 300 2.8 with 2x or 400. Also thinking about a 5D, to see what the hype about full frame is all about.

I have the money but I can't buy something without justification to myself that I need it or it will help me accomplish something I can't do now. Otherwise I feel too guilty about wasting money.

Lordy no!! The ultimate goal is to spirit you back to doing the bulk of your posting in POTN. I believe it is a more appreciative audience.

We all know you will eventually switch back to Canon (after Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Leica, and Pentax)

Your observations and experiences with the gear you own are of interest. You have some very good equipment, and I'm sure you've learned a lot from using it.

Share, dude.

I don't have much of a common ground either. My brain is the size of a walnut, I keep trying to start my Jeep with my office key, I'm completely illiterate, I have nice camera gear and no shots to prove it, I think in cartoons and I like the Lensbaby.
