It would appear the Cap'n forgot to secure his wallet before napping....I thought he had learned that lesson!

Whoa. I was taking a nap and all of the sudden, my cell phone starts beeping and buzzing. Some emergency must be going on.

OOC, on this thread there are three different lenses. One of them is legendary (literally) and thousands of dollars. The other two are less than $600 each.

If you didn't know about the lenses...which photo would you like best?

No access without a logon...would we Canon shooters dare sign up for Nikon Cafe? What if we were tempted to actually post there? Horrors:)!

oh dangit...I didn't know that. Sorry. Don't worry about it.

It was just interesting because someone posted a shot with the nikon 50 1.4, the ais 50 1.2 (I own this one) and the legendary noct 58 f1.2.

Many people say that you can "see the $3000 difference in the bokeh alone" I was just wondering if you could. (I'm still trying to figure out, other than limited edition...what makes this lens so special because I can't see "it".)

I didn't know you couldn't view anything without being a member.

 I said don't worry about it...wouldn't want any of you to feel dirty

It was just interesting. As I read further through the thread there are some of my opinion (which is that it's very hard to tell the difference btw. the 3 lenses). But most think the $3k one is vastly superior. Even in the test photos (which I think are very nice, I just don't see it). Like here, look at the 85L. You can pick out a photo from that lens vs. any of it's contenders (and the 135 certainly as well). And just about any of the 300, 400 & 500 primes stand heads and shoulders above the competitors. So I do believe that there is a cost/quality factor. I'm just not seeing it here.

This lens is hand ground. They only made a few. But honestly it's just okay and more often than not, mis-focused at 1.2.

I suppose I'll be drummed out of the N union now.
