I'd say the f/4 did just fine!

If only I always had that much light to deal with.

I've been to a few indoor events recently with camera in tow. I found myself in places flash wasn't an option. My fast glass wasn't long enough. My long glass wasn't fast enough. I tried using the 100mm Macro at f/2.8 and got decent shutter speeds, but not enough reach. I tried the 70 - 200 f/4 and got the reach I wanted, but lacking IS, shutter speeds were iffy and results on stationary targets were too. Sounds kind of like a sales pitch, doesn't it?

What's been moooooooving around there parts lately?

It does have an element of salesmanship thrown in!

There has been absolutely nothing happening here since your last visit...shouldn't take you more than about 5 minutes to read every post that has been made since then. To say that things have been quiet is a wee bit of an understatement.

Maybe I'll try to catch up tomorrow. Can't say that things are anywhere near normal again here yet. I'm second in command of two organizations, one with a Tuesday meeting and one a Wednesday. This morning I got calls from the leaders of both groups saying they had to leave the state immediately to deal with unexpected family emergencies. :( Guess my easy week got a little harder.

Thanks Mike! It's funny when I look back at the two boys. The middle son is a much better hitter. The older one regularly closes his eyes at contact. I never would have seen it without a quick burst of shots or perfect timing, but he does it almost every time.

Closing the eyes is common in baseball, but it doesn't do much for one's batting average.:D:D The important thing is for them to remember it's a game.... games are supposed to be fun and they look like they're having lots of fun in these photos!

There are a lot more competitive leagues in this area, but we play to enjoy the game. The younger group of kids really plays well above their age level, and has some very good players on it. As coaches, we teach fundamentals, and having fun is one of our fundamentals.

For the first time, I'm not coaching the oldest one's team. There were just too many other conflicts to be fair to the kids. His coach has been coaching older kids for a while, so he's very strong on the techniques, and is adapting well to the wide range of talents and interests on his team. He understood from the get go that if the kids weren't enjoying themselves, everything else was going to be more difficult.

:lol::lol::lol: You're telling me.

I've been recruiting several, and have at least one confirmed for next school year. Know where I could find a good minion? ;) There's always room for another.

Very long time, no mooooo, all.

I come to you with TMS on the brain. I've been working very hard for some time on educational issues, and had some significant victories.

Now, I'm trying to decide if a 70-200 f/2.8 IS ought to be my reward. I've been so out of touch that I didn't even know rebates were rumored, so when I happened to go to Amazon today to look for something for one of my sons, and found one in my "Gold Box" for $1430 and change, I thought something must have been wrong. I've considered trading up from the f/4 for quite a while, but thought the $1700 that's it's been running to have been too steep. And now. . .:confused::confused:

Do it! You know you want to. And you deserve it. :D

Hey Double P! Good to see you again.

The David Juniors are growing!

Arrrghh....new network server, smugmug is barred....

on top of that, managed to break my polariser whilst taking it off my lens the other day...had to email Hoya to see what they say - the part that screws onto the lens, came apart from the part that is the polariser and the circulating part)...
