I don't think I will rush out for a Lensbaby Permie...but it would be cool to know where he got the shot. Looks like a great old roundhouse.

Do it! You know you want to. And you deserve it. :D

Hey Double P! Good to see you again.

The David Juniors are growing!

Working on it now. ;)

Nice to be back, at least a bit, among the photographic. I've managed to finish off a bunch of huge tasks, at least for now. We'll see what comes up next.

And those Juniors do keep growing. Can you believe it, they seem to think that pedal pusher pants (I just called them highwaters) really aren't in style.

Late night azalea buds.

Cool, Wool. Something of value from a late night.

Arrrghh....new network server, smugmug is barred....

Moooooo, Harm.

I've been working on blocking folks from a new server the other way. Moved a site to a new host and made some design changes. Now we're much more popular, with better search engine coverage and results, but we're also drawing a huge increase in attempted spammers and bots. I knew something was up when the bulk of my traffic was coming from the Russian Federation.

Hey David. If you don't mind a heavy setup (I think it will be similar or slightly heavier than the 1-4 with the M3) go for it. It's a nice lens. Fast focusing. Sharp in the center, slightly softer at the corners than the F4. Nothing to worry about and since most people don't do landscapes with that lens, it's really never an issue.

Your little ones are sure growing! Nice to see you.

Thanks, Permie! I don't mind the weight, and I am looking forward to the added abilities that IS and an extra stop of light provide. Is it time to start the brown truck watch yet?

Harm...I had a Hoya CPL do the same thing. They have a little retaining ring that doesn't always seat well. Mine popped off, but fortunately, right into my hand and I was able to reassemble it...haven't had a problem since. That said...I am not overly impressed with the design....especially for what they charge for one.

Well, it did the same to me. I was unscrewing it off the lens and the front section came off...and the ring too....I just can't seem to put it together again! So I am bummed about that a bit.

I don't know what type of stuff this train was carrying (and I didn't see the engine to check out the paint job:)), but it was interesting to see all these streamlined black cars strung together:

Really, not the Chinese?

Well the whole server barring thing is a downer too, simply because, I cannot see what anyone is posting (photo-wise). Anything to do with "Online Storage" is pretty much barred on here. The filters are very quick to recognise which websites do what, and ding...it's barred...what makes it worse, is that because I don't have a computer at home (and just use this laptop from work), I won't be able to contribute anything the to forum for a while...so a bit of an extra bummer there!

Wow, so you're saying that if someone links to a photo site you can't see it? Can you see any shots posted here? Bummer indeed. I know work intranets need pretty beefed-up security but that seems a bit out there.

Nice, Tony.

There's a spot near Boeing Field in Seattle that's trying to line up engine's like the Chief's mile+ line up from a while back. I haven't had a chance to look for a place to shoot them, though. I can see them from the freeway, but I probably ought not to stop there to click off a few shots. ;)

Amazingly enough, I get very little traffic originating from Asia. At my last paying security job we used to bet on how many Korean Elementary schools would be visiting our network each day. I've got some decent controls on much of the Russian traffic, so now I tend to see more scattered stuff -- Canada, UK, Netherlands -- but in no where near the volume that the Russians were putting out there.

The "online storage" block is a bummer, though. My general approach when I did that sort of thing was pretty hands off. I got requests to ban/block certain places on a regular basis. My thoughts were always that if people were getting their work done, I didn't care where they browsed to recharge. And if you boss couldn't manage your performance without an electronic babysitter, they weren't doing their job.

Pretty much so. I don't allow it to interfere with work, but draconian measures are out there to stop us "wasting time" i guess. So yes, I cannot see any photos that have been linked to photo sites, let alone go to them too. I can however see shots that have been "attached"....so far!

But it could be worse, at least I am able to use the internet on here for the most part!

Tony....without seeing the 4 digit number on the placards, it is a bit difficult to tell what those particular tank cars might be hauling. That said...it would appear that denatured alcohol is the most likely commodity.

Are you talking about the red Hazardous Materials diamond label? It says "1987" on it...and the white "sign" says "Renewable Products Marketing Group".

Cool!

And in an unrelated topic, I visited a new (to me) place yesterday, part of a long string af "nature preserves" that pass through this town following a long stream. I was there around sunset, and in bad light from rain clouds covering the sun, but I did run into what was in effect a farm equipment graveyard at the back of what I believe is a horse ranch. They had numerous old pieces of gear laying around. I only had birding gear with me (the 100-400 with a 1.4x TC) so only made some half-hearted and pretty dismal attempts to take any shots in the very dim light, but I figure I'll go back for some possibly interesting pics. I did, though, get some good results of ducks at ISO 3200 (I could get AF at f/8 with the 1D3).

Home and not feeling well so I processed some shots from February:

Not exactly what I was trying for, but close (this is a shot I've had in my head for a couple of years)
