[QUOTE=Greg_C;8188050]Here's some from the Kondalilla Falls meet.

I was a little disappointed with some of my waterfall shots, recent rain has made the rock pools at the base of most of falls look muddy. Give it a week without rains and I think it would settle down.

No.1 Foggy Valley - The Foggy Valley was a nice surprise. The fog was quite fluid, moving about, creeping up the mountain and retreating just as fast. The western view and early morning made for some interesting exposure choices. You can see the line from the sunrise creeping down the valley.

No.2 Foggy Valley Upclose

No.3 Kondalilla Falls - Little Cascades

No.4 Strangler Fig - The original tree has long disappeared and all that remains is the fig. The early light was filtering through the gaps.

No.5 Base of the Falls - Not a fantastic shot, don't like the muddy water or the difference in exposures. The sky was blended in from another shot, about 3 stops difference. Still, it was easier than it would have been later in the day with the sun half way down.

Those are wonderful, Greg. I couldn't tell you which one I like best.

Ditto, great shots. I love the two foggy ones but they are really nice shots and it's hard to choose a fav.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Hmm, opportunity knocks and I may end up doing sports shooting, of all things.

I never imagined... and my rig is so totally not set up for that. FF is for events, not for sports. Although one can indeed one-shot-one-kill with the 5D.

But I suppose we will just wing it with the 40D. No worse off than the rest of the volunteers on the team. (yes I donate my time and what meagre photo skills I have, to an organization of my choice.)

Nice shots Greg....the fog in the valley is one of my favorite things to try and get here. I just hate having to drive through it to get above it. The falls looked pretty good, but I see what you meant about the mud. I was a bit surprised it was that visible.

Hey...my F1 was 5fps manual focus. Interestingly enough, I had a fairly high keeper ratio shooting with it....so it is possible. :D

In that case, my 5D ain't too far off, 4fps - but with AF - so I'll take my chances :p

Shots 5 and 6 work the best for me. looks like Mother Nature had you chasing the light most of the shoot. Talk about a range of conditions.

Depending on the sport....One Shot mode is often just as effective. A lot of it hinges on what you hope to capture. Sprint races at the Olympics are definitely a spray and pray affair as are some gymnastics performances....but you can nail a shot with good timing too.

Nothing here, Riley. How about you?

We're getting ready to run up to Reno for a couple days for Lois' birthday. My brother and his wife from Washington (Sequim) are joining us there. It should be fun. I think this might be the first time we've ever vacationed with a family member besides Lois' mother and brother.

Not a whole lot here either. Just going for a run and I might do some more reading for fun.

Its my birthday, but mum is in Australia so we aren't doing a whole lot. Probably just going to a brew pub where I can get some nice beer.
