There's often on at William Finley just past the restrooms where the water is on both sides of the road (before the bridge). It's generally too far away for any kind of shot though.

and in a completely odd occurrence, ours was at Ankeny yesterday.

I decided to clean out the closet in which I keep the camera gear. I found at least 5 lenses that are so infrequently used, I put them back in their boxes. Those boxes are prominently positioned so I won't forget I own them. If I ever think of a use, I might even take them back out of their boxes.

Chief have you ever thought about thinning down your gear? I know it's almost sacrilege to suggest around here but if you don't use the stuff you may find a better use for the $.

Wool -- showed your latest train picture to Ayden. In case you were curious, that train is called a "Chugga-Chugga" train.

I forgot, I wanted to post these for Chris (it's a lifelister for me Chris...a female belted kingfisher). They aren't great shots, the fog was so bad today that light was horrid, but they are a first for me.

Nice Kingfisher

Moooo all

I'm almost over the flu  Still a little congestion and coughs, but not as bad as earlier in the week. Going to get a haircut soon, then going to see if I can get some cheap CF cards at circuit city.

Don't know. I've actually got the SD35 firmware, which falls into the "we have probably screwed something up, but don't have a working version available for download yet afterall category."

I should have just powered the server down and pulled a drive to check what the label on the drive said. Instead, I tried to use their software tools to tell me what was on the drive and got bum information. So now I'm in limbo until the officially release something for the SD35 drives. Their website said yesterday that it was still in progress.

 We had to read this story (external link) before breakfast this morning. It's about the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge steam engines. Some nice shots in the book, but I've seen better in this forum. :D

They don't seem to be winning a lot of friends by the way they are handling this.

They're making Canon's response to the initial 1DMkIII issues look like a case study in how to do things right.

There are some seriously restless natives roaming the Seagate support forum. They aren't answering their phones. They aren't responding to e-mails. In the middle of it all, they had their offices shut down due to the ice storm that hit Oklahoma. Their phone system at times just overloads and doesn't even connect. Others who have connected have remained on hold for 4+ hours (!!!). People with bricked drives are furious (rightly), and then are getting blamed for not having an effective backup strategy -- and you know how well blaming the end user goes. In many cases the bricked drives were a part of their backup strategy.
