Brought one of these home today (I think I have a hernia now :D), then wanted to check some specs quickly, so I thought I'd just pop onto the B&H website. Wel, wel, well! Discontinued! I wonder what they'll be replacing it with...

One of the levers near the boom swivel point is different to the old A700 (looks like there is an extra one). Also not a convertible stand, it is a stand AND boom. Very interesting... Other than that, it looks a lot smaller on my monitor than mine does standing next to me in the studio. ;)

I think that's just they way they've photographed it to show the boom in both positions. I reckon it's just a rename.

Congrats on the new grip btw. Did you get the wheels with it? - if not, I'm hoping you have health insurance.

 The wheels are on their way. Expensive, but I can see how they're cheaper than repeated hernia operations... :D

It's really hard to see what's going on, working with the generously sized images that they graciously provide on their website. :p

Does anyone know why there's $100 difference between BH Photo and Calumet sold via Amazon.com for A700? It's listed on Amazon.com at $134.95 "new," whereas on BH Photo it's $239.50. Looks identical to me....

I can't help wondering why Calumet is selling a product via Amazon, yet, you can't find the same product in their own website.

I just browsed all Avenger stands at Calumet and couldn't find it, either. Strange...

You might have just been scammed, but I hope not. There are reports of scammers using big-time online sellers' names as bait for things like this. I think I saw a post on it a week ago or so on here actually.

First off, congrats on the new A700, I paid way more, I think $289.00 at my camera store and still think it to be just about the best value for the dollar of any tool I have in all of my photographic equipment.

And I use it in my apartment for tabletop and it offers me so much versatility and ease when hanging an Elinchrom 400 BX with either of my ocotoboxes from it. And afterward, it quickly folds up and gets stored in a closet. Just simply excellent.

There are times I've wished for a second one, but if this new one is slightly smaller, that would be good too so please if anyone finds out, let us know.

Re the price, this happened about 6 months ago, the price was down to something like $125 and several people here managed to buy them before the price was corrected.
