Canon 1D mkII registered AF point

Is it possible to register multiple single AF points so that you can tab/scroll through them using the "assist/white balance correction" button found above the quick control dial?

Or can only 1 AF point be registered at a time?

If I remember right, one is registered, but can have an expanded function...

You can register one AF point.

If you use CFn4 (* to focus), you can set up CFn 11 (IIRC, not near the camera ATM) to switch to the registered AF point "only while pressing X" (the button left next to the * button).

I have it set up like that, and * gives me AF at whatever AF point I have selected at the time, X gives me ROF AF.

yeah that's how I have it set now.

On the bodies with the multi-direction control stick, when you press it in, it goes to CF AF point automatically. and pressing the AF selection button enables all teh points.

Is there a way to set the body to have 1 registered point, then use the AF point select button to use the dials to scroll to a new spot but then another button or button combo to go back to center?

Not sure what you're asking exactly, and I only know how a 1D(s)(Mk2) works, but you can select a different AF point for the * and X button. So you have two to choose from.

I think you may have to register the point each time...I could be wrong.

Once registered, it stays registered...

oh well lol guess i'm used to my 20D and 30D having the multi-direction controller that you can press in to get back to center only.
