Hey guys, well I took my camera to the rink so that I wasn't bored watching my little brothers games :p This is my first shoot I did of hockey and the rink is quite dark so sorry for the quality! I am not too good yet.

Nice shots. I think you need to get above the glass and when you do this you will get more punch in the color. Shooting through plexiglass make it real hard to get the lighting right. But outside that I think your shots are great.

Next time concentrate on getting faces and eyes especially. Also see if you can get in the penalty box. It's easier than going through the glass.

Max of f4 on your lens in a dark barn makes it tough to get a fast s/s that will stop the motion, so look for opportunities to shoot a player who is moving slowly or standing still stickhandling looking to dish off - like on a powerplay.

Good shots for your 1st time. Ask the coach if you can stand at one end of the bench. As Darsk said also the penalty box. Caves' can be hard to shoot in LOL :)

If you shoot from the bench, they MAY require you wear a hockey helmet, so be ready - or ask in advance. Since you're shooting through the glass, there's always the option of bumping the saturation IN camera as well.

Yeah I tried even using ISO 125 and it was too dark. But today I was looking at one of the rinks and they had strobes set up for anyone to use. So I might just hop in the penalty box and see the results.

And thanks guys for all the advice, I will definatly use it in my next shooting. I just need it to warm up here in NY so I can do some outdoor stuff. Haha!
