I contacted Dell customer care. They're exchanging out and are "cross shipping" the new monitor, so I won't be without it.

It's nice to see that level of service from Dell.

I did get a minor run-around. The first customer care rep told me the best thing to do would be to do a return and re-buy. So they sent me to sales who said that wasn't the way to do it (especially since I didn't want to pay full price and they said that this wasn't the way to do it unless I was ordering a different model). So I got sent back to customer care and got a VERY polite and helpful woman who's name I didn't catch. But even with the run-around, it took about 20 minutes total.

Thanks, the M-Audios are sweet. I went to Guitar Center and tried them out next to a few comparable models and these just shined [especially for the price]..

you have a chance to compare them to the klipsch promedia 2.1s? I'm a closet audiophile and want to know if I should upgrade to the M-audios. Any thoughts?

And, so this post is not a complete divergence from the topic, pics of my new setup with the 2209wa will be up soon! :D

I currently have a GeForce 8600GT card. The resolution only goes to 1280x1024. Does this mean I need a new card? If so,which card won't break the bank?

Are you sure you have the latest drivers? Make sure. If you need a new card I picked up an ASUS 3450 for about $30 from Newegg that does just fine.

Is your card AGP or PCI?

I have a nvidia 7900GT that works at 1680x1050 no problems. I can play most games at high settings with no problems too.

After checking further,I found that it was my current monitor that was restricting the resolution from going higher. Thanks.

I don't think he proclaimed to be an audiophile... just me! :D
Believe me, these Klipsch's aren't going anywhere -- I just thought about creating a 4.1 setup with the M-audios. mmm...

Sorry to hear about your initial problems with the setup. I actually added the 2209wa last week with my 8600gt, and at first it was giving me issues. It refused to run dualview, and on horizontal span only the wizard (not the Nvidia control panel) would run both 22" monitors at native resolution (1680x1050). THEN, on reboot, the resolution would drop down to 600x800. Soon enough, even back on one monitor only, the card would only allow 600x800. I got so frustrated after updating the drivers, rolling back the drivers, and trying everything in between, that I pulled a Britney (but not with my hair) and just formatted the hard drive and reinstalled XP. Problem solved! I believe remnants of my old ATI card were messing things up. It was about time for the reinstall anyway, albeit a drastic fix. haha.
