The link I posted is for CANADIANS only. You'll notice the small Canadian flag at the top left corner, and you'll also notice the much higher retail price charged in Canada.
The other deal is for US residents who follow the different messages saying to phone Dell & speak to a specific person, and to specifically ask for the "special".

Since this display is not a wide gamut panel, I saw 83% in this thread, do you find it a hindurance when editing in Adobe rgb?

I use a LaCie CRT. About sRGB gamut.
Not a problem. As long as you understand some images might contain colors that look like they are clipping (they are clipped by your monitors gamut) but aren't clipping in AdobeRGB or the printers gamut.

Kind of a workaround / way to check: http://www.naturescapes.net …-tips-for-better-prints#7 (external link)

I just got a 2209WA in today. My first impression of it is that “I love it!” I guess that I don’t have a more expensive monitor to compare it to so I will just have to enjoy my ignorance.

One question: The monitor will swivel 90 degrees. The software that allows one to rotate what is on screen is part of a graphics card software? Or do Dell Drivers handle this situation? Or other? I’m not referring to rotating a picture.

Another question: Why does it come with a USB cable?

There are USB ports on the monitor, so the cable will plug into the PC and allow you to use the USB ports on the monitor. Nice feature.

Yeah, it has two extra USB ports on the left side. However if you rotate it, they will be on the top. Kinda dumb if you ask me.
I'm using mine hooked up to a Macbook Pro, so there weren't really 'drivers' I had to install. The computer detected it and if I want to rotate it, I have to tell it to display rotated, in portrait mode. I've only done this a couple of times and find it's not really practical. It might be useful with a two-monitor setup, but I use the landscape setting all the time.
When I select display in portrait, it resets all my desktop icons to display in the narrower window, so i have to reset them again when I go back to landscape

What operating system are you using?

It also has two USB ports on the back. ;)

Just got mine setup. All I can say is wow...

Many thanks to the contributors of this thread!

+1 I got mine set up yesterday. Fantastic monitor.

Pretty bright out of the box though. To get the right calibration I set brightness to 0% (5% would also be about right) leaving contrast at the default setting.

I have read many reviews and tech columns which suggest that it's not good to run an LCD at 0% Brightness because of backlight stability issues. I don't know whether this is true for the 2209WA, but I always kept mine above 5%.

I can't remember if XP will natively do the rotating for you. Do you have an ATI or nVidia graphics card?

Thanks. I nudged mine up to 5% just in case. Not a lot of difference between 0% and 5% anyway.

As the monitor "breaks in" it will lose some brightness anyway. I run mine at 10% Brightness and it gives 110cd/m2 luminance.
